My favorite part about helping patients at SPEC is the ability to form meaningful bonds with my patients over many years. One of the things that drew me to the field of glaucoma is the fact that, given the chronic nature of the condition, glaucoma specialists have the opportunity to follow patients for decades and really form deep connections. Nothing matches the feeling of restoring a patient’s sight through a successful cataract surgery – experiences like these make me love my job.,

I realized in medical school that I wanted a few things in the field that I chose – I loved procedures and working with my hands, I wanted to greatly impact the lives of my patients, and I wanted meaningful relationships with patients and to follow them over the long-term. I found the perfect fit in ophthalmology. I was impressed as a medical student seeing the great impact ophthalmologists could have on restoring patient’s vision and thus vastly improving their quality of life.
